The VE80 Orchard is now complete 80 fruit trees were planted in remembrance of 80 years of victory in Europe by Short Heath lest we forget CIC.
Huge thanks to Deputy Lieutenant Kevin Davis and The Mayor of Walsall Cllr Anthony Harris and Cllr Garry Perry for all attending to plant their trees.
A very special thanks to members of the local community that came along today and planted trees.
Shoot and Spice brought veterans and local residents together at Double Deuce Range for a day of shared experience, marksmanship, and conversation, ending with a warm, communal curry at Abdul’s Balti House. The event blended sport, food, and connection, creating a space where stories were exchanged, friendships formed, and the community strengthened.
Veterans embraced the art of leather craftsmanship through a subsidised bag‑making course delivered in partnership with Walsall Leather Skills Centre, Mental Fortitude, and expert maker Jo Heard. This hands‑on programme empowered participants with new skills, confidence, and a pathway into traditional leatherwork.
