Crafting Remembrance: A Poignant and Creative Day for Veterans
What a fantastic and meaningful afternoon we had at our latest arts and crafts session for veterans!
The focus was on creating beautiful ceramic poppies—a powerful symbol of remembrance and hope. Our veterans got their hands dirty (in the best way!) carefully forming and shaping the clay into poppy moulds. These have now been set aside to dry; in a few weeks, we’ll reconvene for the exciting next stages of painting and firing them in the kiln.
A huge thank you must go to the wonderful team at Creative Arts in Oldbury for providing such a brilliant, welcoming space for us to work in. The atmosphere was perfect for creativity and camaraderie.
We are especially grateful to Ruth and the team for being so incredibly hospitable. Not only did they let our veterans share their fantastic studio, but they also introduced us to their resident guinea pigs—a delightful bit of animal therapy that brought smiles all around!
It was a true combination of a great space, great people, and a fantastic time. Thank you to everyone who came along and made it so special.
We can’t wait to see our poppies come to life with colour soon! Stay tuned for the next session.
